Juicie Café

This one is slightly off-topic, but not really. It’s a short film portrait I made this summer about my brother’s festival orange juice business and our extended trip through Hungary and all the way down to Greece to buy oranges directly from a farmer’s cooperative.
I show it here because it’s on these Psytrance festivals I’m following my brother to for already twelve years now where I’ve had many of the substantial ideas for the Antithesis film. Also in this film portrait you see a few pictures from the OZORA Festival in Hungary; some will also make their way into the upcoming Antithesis film trailer.

Jack Hosé: Revolution

This is an old one, but deserves another screening here. I shot this live music video about a month before our 2011 Type]Media graduation on a performance art festival in Utrecht. It came just in time for the graduation since I had wanted to show the typeface in different media than just the normal posters and process and specimen books.

The typeface you see in the video is Antithesis, however both the style of the clip as well as the showing of the typeface are entirely unrelated to the forthcoming Antithesis dance film.

The performing artists are my dear friends of Jack Hosé. The same group with one additional musician also form the Pentatones, who I originally asked to contribute the music to the Antithesis dance film. That was until I met this other producer…
Anyhow. Tonight I’m going to see a hopefully outstanding concert of the Pentatones in collaboration with the MDR symphony orchestra in Centraltheater Leipzig.

Festival recommendation: »Eclipse 2012« near Cairns, Australia

This is the first in a series of music related posts. Antithesis has been influenced by contemporary electronic music from the very beginning — having been designed with culture related design in mind — and much of the concept for the film is directly influenced by experiences I had while following my older brother to Psytrance festivals in the Goa belt of north eastern Germany between Berlin and Hamburg since the early 2000s.

If you can, try to make it to the Eclipse 2012 Festival near Cairns in Australia, which will take place during the solar eclipse in 209 days from now, roughly one month before the End of the World at the end of 2012.

Originally, before the idea for this film making came about, I wanted to release Antithesis during that solar eclipse on November 14th 2012. Well, that idea has changed. Instead I’ll definitely try to make it to the festival and experience seven days of antithesis there, and release the film and the typeface after the jump, if we’re all still there to see it.
